SAF/FM Sub-Organizations

SAF/FM is composed of five sub-organizations; FMP (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Programs), FMC (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cost and Economics), FMB (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Budget), FME (Directorate of Executive Services, Communications, and Workforce Development), and FMF (Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Operations). Each of the sub-organizations supports an intrinsic part of the FM effort. In the paragraphs below, you will find information on the roles of these organizations, the products they supply to SAF/FM and the Air Force as a whole, and the structure of each.


Acting Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Financial Management and Comptroller)

Marilyn M. Thomas is the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller. As the Air Force's comptroller and chief financial officer, she serves as the principal adviser to the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force on all financial matters. She is responsible for providing the financial management and analytical services necessary for the effective and efficient use of Air Force resources, to include nearly 700,000 military and civilian personnel and a budget of about $167 billion.
